THE SHORELINE OF DREAMS
RACING THE SUN
A PAUSE
DRUNK ON THE FUNK
the shoreline of shimmering dreams
is not as far or as real as it seems
the storms of livid reality
don't visit much in this locality
so my endless seamless dreams
dives into the pool of sleep
and goes very very deep
and the cramp in my leg
is a pain I have to keep
and the rasp in my throat
is annoying but
sounds as horny as a billy goat
the sun shines too bright
my eyes give up the fight
and seek the shadow of the dream shore
but the warm on my back asks for more
and turns off the cooling fan
when I asked why
it says I don't know
perhaps because it can
the smoke drifts up and smells like skunk
but I ain't doing no weed
just listening to the music's crack and thump
cause really I'm just drifting
dreaming
gazing at the hopeless little screen
and
drunk on the funk
