ON THE STREET WHERE I LIVE

posted Friday, 16 October 2009

Not much information from the Dr. yesterday just more tests which I never seem to get any results from. Costco didn't have my prescription in stock and I'm waiting for a call from them.

Got out to the Tongue this morning and had a three hour conversation with the other curmudgeons. A lot of laughs and weird conversation, just the way I like it. Reminds me of the time in the Army,  the times when it was hurry up and wait and we were standing around trying to top each others stories and jokes.

Usually someone pulled out a deck of cards and we would play Euchre or bid Whist or someone would have a portable chess board and we would play 1 minute move games or pull out a soft cover duster (Western pulp novels) and read until the powers that be got their act together and got us moving again. Usually it was raining and we were covered in those sweaty old green ponchos with rain dripping off our helmets. I can tell you that time spent in the Tongue is much more pleasant, by hey we were soldiers and didn't know enough to get out of the rain.

Ciao, JWL

The german rains they came they came as we were playing the COs war games. We marched along in the Sennelager mud - our boots went slurp slurp slurp and thud in and out of the sticky dirty german sludge, and our putties kept the boot tops free from the mud. Stopping at a gasthsus we entered the dry and a couple of snap cap dortmunder pils we opted to buy - Desa Canadishen soldaten cu bis dumb koff der vetter is slecht and you'll catch a cough. Yep you are right John we acted insane, drinking dortmunder pils whilst route marching in rrain - be well my friend - billy i
