THE SHADOW OF A DOUBT
The coffee is buzzing in my ears
as the world dissolves into a puddle of tears.
Talking to my daughter the other day
about her mother who had passed away.
Things are said
and thoughts jump out
but its only how we feel and not
beyond the shadow of a doubt.
Who is the man
that doesn't cast a shadow
and knows where the
wild muse goes?
Wisdom had it that
the world was flat
and the world had this tremendous girth
and the sun revolved around the earth.
Like painting a floor
instead of painting to the door
now my shadow is a goner
cause I've painted myself into this corner.
Now I'm a senseless lout
trying to see
beyond
the shadow of a doubt.
