THE MUSE IS AWL and today I hate people.
Today I woke up to my phone ringing. It was Tim wanting to know if I still wanted to go out with Garth and the Bandit dog to the beach so we could catch the low tide and Bandit could have a gallop in the surf. I had to decline because of a conflict with getting the Xerox color laser printer set up in the office at 10 a.m..
Gordy, Ken and myself spent about an hour getting the printer set up and then I came back to my crib and tried to write my blog for the day. I was completely strapped for any inspiration and waited for my son to call on Skype but no joy there either. At about eleven I went to the Steam Clock Starbucks and took an hour to finish one page in my journal.
So I went for my walk and found I was terribly bored by the people I saw on the street so started taking pictures of the buildings and postcard type things that happen when I really don't want to interact with other human beings.
I started by looking up and photographing the tops and decorations on the buildings around Robson Square. I also didn't completely desert people completely finding that with my telephoto zoom lens I got some interesting shots of chess players.
Am re reading the Paris Review #128 the fortieth anniversary issue for fall 1993. They have some excerpted pages from John Cheever's journals. Would that my scrawling could be of such interest. The writing is an illumination of his soul both the good and the bad and it prompted my current blockage and lack of copy. I sometimes worry that when these journals of mine are read in the future that people will think badly of me. The truth is they will probably end up in the land fill unread. On top of that I will be dead and could care less, ha ha.
