TRICK OR TREAT, or as the girls in the street below my window say, "TRICK OR TRICK?

Musing in a year that has almost gotten away from us, Halloween tonight when I will giving out goodies to my neighbors kids and taking their portraits for their parents and the Co-op newsletter.

Prompted several people I haven't heard from in a long while on SKYPE hoping for a response. Haven't heard any thing new from AGs e mail or SKYPE and only hope he has managed to deal with his pain.

Got the design of Grand daughter Maya's xmas present settled with my new friend JH at Angel designs and now am hunting for gifts for the rest of the family in the East. Son Ian's gift is in the house and now there is only Sacha, Heather, Elois, and Maithe to figure out, should be able to get it all into the mail by the end of November.

Have to order a Green beret from the kit shop and a couple of new stable belts. The QOR of C badge is off the buckle so all though the belt is still serviceable its not as showy without the badge on it.

Hoping that the parade on the 11th isn't rained on as bad as last year. I got soaked as usual and will again ponder owning a "London Fog" secret agent rain coat. They are always ridiculously expensive and lately all things fabric seem to be made in China and paying a premium price for something made with slave labor runs against the grain. in fact buying anything made with slave labor runs against the grain with so many of our jobs being shipped overseas to make the corporations selling in our market obscene profits.

I see the stock market is in the dumper once again, must be time for another bailout. Or more bonuses for those idiots who brought the house of Capitalism down.

Americans who were so triumphant over bringing down Communism by bankrupting it in an arms race that no one could win, have now succumbed to the same disease and no matter how much worthless money they print there is no way they can any longer ignore the eight hundred pound gorilla in the room which is the cost of the military and two un-winable wars.

Another brave young Canadian soldier killed in Afghanistan, to the chorus of pseudo patriotic rhetoric about protecting Canadian freedom, and support the (ie the mission) troops BS. I support the troops but not the mission.

All empires fall, some sooner, some later, and the thing that brings them down is war and the economic collapse of any system that supports those wars.

There is no such thing as too big to fail and reflecting on the sentiment "Lest we Forget" it would appear that we have.

Ciao, JWL
