NICK AND TIM
WEIRDNESS
Yesterday was one weird day. I went to the Doctor's Clinic to have another colonoscopy and I was prepped and on the table when the doctor noticed the tattoos, the aiming marks. for the radiation treatment on my stomach. He stopped what he was doing and stated that he would not proceed. I was already sedated when he explained that because of radiation treatment the bowel becomes very fragile and gets more fragile over time and that his clinic did not have the facilities to treat a possible rupture of the walls of the bowel that might occur. He has scheduled me for another Doctor who specializes in these type of cases at VGH.
After a short stay in the recovery room I was turned loose on the world. I decided to walk back to my crib to walk the effects of the drugs off. On my way past Broadway and Granville I dropped into Oscar's Bookstore.
Have you ever had stores that you dare not approach when you have money in your pocket? Well for me, Oscar's is one of them. His store has Art and Photography books that are discounted and I have never been able to get out of the store without buying at least one.
Yesterday I bought three, this time I'll blame it on the drugs, ha ha .
When I got downtown I ran into Tim "S" and we went into LD to meet his brother and have a talk with Jack "W". Then we went to a pub and Tim had a beer and Nick and I had a coffee.
Hence the picture. I was still a little woozy but starting to get straight when I got home and crashed.
Upon waking up I pondered the fact that radiation degrades the body tissues long after the radiation treatment and the fact that my oncologist never mentioned it when she recommended that sort of treatment. The things they don't tell you, can in my case come back, to bite you in the ass, literally.
